On Friday 17 May, on the eve of the European Night of European Museums and Galleries, we welcomed hundreds of enthusiasts of science, physical and chemical experiments, knowledge and fun. Our Energoland entertainment and education centre in Mochovce started to fill up with visitors from all over Slovakia shortly after 4 pm. We organized such an event after a two-year break. We were all the more looking forward to reopening our gates outside of normal opening hours. We exceeded our record from 2022 almost fourfold, with more than 1800 people passing through the doors of Energoland in just five hours. We are extremely pleased with this interest and are committed to the future.

A rich programme

A varied programme took place both on the main stage and at the individual stations located around Energoland. The programme was accompanied by experienced and witty moderator Vlado “Láďo” Varecha. In the main hall the children were entertained by the magician Talostan and fascinated by chemical experiments by George Science. The fact that life around nuclear power plants exists and is important was also shown by a beekeeper who told the children about the life of the honey bee and the little tidbits could taste that tasty honey throughout the event.

With physics experiments, Michal Figura charmed and fascinated the curious audience for hours presenting the World of Magical Physics with each demonstration. We believe that he energized many participants and showed them that learning physics can be done in a fun way. Mr. Miroslav Vanek from the Technical University of Zvolen not only talked about radioactivity but also measured it.

Fun in the meeting rooms

The meeting rooms in Energoland were also transformed into the fun zone where the children could try out chemical experiments assisted by science enthusiasts from George Science, and they could discharge their energy by cycling, where they converted their own energy into electricity. A total of 119 pairs generated 353,253 Wh of electricity during the event. The highest power output achieved was 849.27 Wh.

The children tested their fine motor skills and precision at the motorbike game where they had to roll a ring across a winding track without touching it, and they tested their minds and ability to concentrate through Mindball. Of the permanent exhibits, the 3D cinema, the motorbike of the future, and the Van den Graaf generator were the most successful.

Each child received a small gift upon entering the Energoland and those who also wanted to compete were rewarded for correctly completing the energy quiz. From all the participants who not only took the quiz but also completed the stations where they received a stamp, we drew twice lucky winners who received a backpack full of gifts.
